
"Trees, Winter, After Sunset""
On clear evenings, especially on cold, crisp days in autumn and winter, if you look opposite the sun (east just after sunset, west just after sunrise) you will often see a well defined streak of pink in the sky above the horizon, and a deep cyan blue below that. Known as "The Belt of Venus" the colors are usually muted, but occasionally they are quite vivid, as in this photograph from near my home in Wetzel County.
